NAV LEADERSHIP COMMITMENT

2018-2019 UF Navigators Leadership Commitment

As a leader with the UF Navigators, I, by the grace of God, commit to…

I. Pursue God Deeply

WHY: Your relationship with Jesus comes before all things. We want Him to satisfy you! // John 15 – No branch can bear fruit by itself, it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

  • PERSONALLY… I will make it a priority to pursue God through Bible study, prayer, Scripture Memory, spiritual disciplines, worship, time alone with Him, etc. Seeking God is how I find my source of life and time with Him will fuel any service or ministry that I do.

  • MORALLY… I will be led by the Scriptures in matters of personal holiness, bringing my sin into the light within trusted community, and model appropriate and considerate relationships with the opposite sex.

  • COMMUNALLY: I will commit to prioritize attendance and membership of a local church community in Gainesville and be accountable to a local pastor and congregation throughout my time as a student.

II. Faithful participation in The Navigators community

WHY: Leaders don’t just play specific ministry roles, they shape our culture. We want our leaders to commit to shaping our ministry and its culture. In order to do that, they must be a part of it.

  • In my ROLE: As a leader within The Navigators community, I will faithfully attend and recruit to developmental events for my benefit and for the benefit of the students that I have been entrusted to lead. This includes, but is not limited to: NavNight, Beach Retreat, Men’s/Women’s Retreat, Ignite Conference, NavNight and Bible study

  • In my MISSION: I will faithfully pursue a lifestyle of discipleship (choose opportunities for my spiritual growth and choose to be actively involved in helping a younger believer grow spiritually). My life will include an investment in relationships with those in my Bible study outside of our weekly Bible study time.

  • With my OPPORTUNITIES: I will consider and pray about attending the UF Navigators Spring Break trip and also consider a summer 2020 commitment with The Navigators (STP, overseas, Eagle Lake, etc.)

III. Invest in my personal leadership development

WHY: We expect leadership to be challenging and difficult, and we don’t expect you to have it figured out! It is our job to help you process discouragement, provide you with a safe place to be developed, and to shepherd you with care.

  • ACCOUNTABILITY: As I learn and am entrusted to lead, I will agree to be kept accountable in my attendance of our UF Navigator Leadership Community meetings and agree to be faithful in my commitments to lead and shepherd other members of our community (5 each semester).

  • BEING ABOVE REPROACH: I will model faithfulness, teachability, and humility in the way that I lead and interact with others. I will receive feedback and instruction from staff and/or my Bible study leader, understanding it is given in love and truth. As far as it depends on me, I will commit to carrying out my leadership commitment with all faithfulness.
